A story that caught my eye was former Archbishop's Carey's speech and the anger it created -
Muslim dismay at Carey speech
Islamic world is violent, says Carey
plus a really great anaylsis of it
The right answer or the wrong question?
Plus an article written by Michael Meacher on our new friend Colonel Gadafy
The path to friendship goes via the oil and gas fields
This whole Libyan issue is just pure politics
The relationship boils down to this: Gadafy needs to sell his oil. British and US companies want to buy it (just incase Saudi Arabia goes tits up with its own homegrown fundies).
So the Colonel is happy to take the rap for Lockerbie (when we all know it had nothing to do with Libya) - and surrened his Airfix missle system to the US.
Bush and Blair wil overlook the absence of Libyan human rights and democracy. Business as usual.
Even by our 'Dear Leaders' standards this is just the lowest of the low, sucking up to corporate power and jettisoning principles, it is shamless and shameful.
I would really like to believe that Gadafy is a reformed man and he has made an effort to give up his wmds but has he ever shown repetant of his past, Gadafy has never accepted personal responblity for the terror he comissioned.
Gadafy today is absolved of his past crimes and honured for being "courageous" scant justice to his victims.
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein greets Donald Rumsfeld, then special envoy of President Ronald Reagan, in Baghdad on December 20, 1983.
