News You May Of Missed

Since violence erupted in the Lebanon many other important and ongoing events have been pushed down the piority column especially for instance this one.

Kurds regard Turkey as main economic partner
While the Turkish media is full of speculation about the possibility of a cross-border operation to deal with the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and how Massoud Barzani and Jalal Talabani have decided to move against Turkey's Kurdish extremists, the mood in the Kurdistan region of Iraq is very different with the Kurds establishing the groundwork for major economic cooperation with Turkey.

On Sunday the Kurdish regional government unveiled a landmark Foreign Investment and Incentives Law that allows foreigners 100 percent ownership, full transfer of profits and a minimum of 10 year's tax relief. They will also provide free land for investment.

The government has established a powerful Investment Board led by a very experienced Kurdish official who is famed for his dynamism and competence. He's Herish Muharam Muhammad Amin, a man who attaches great importance to Turkey as a major trading and investment partner. He has deep respect for Turkish businessmen and their experience and has been a witness to their successes in the Kurdistan region. He will work at a ministerial level.
This news item like Iraq has become forgotten, much like Afghanistan is. For the media there is always something bigger and better to report on. The Gaza Strip is another forgotten conflict - Boy killed in Gaza air strike
