Iraq's Non Existant Constitution

Constitution likely Not Achieved ~ 30 More Bodies of Police Found in Baghdad

Deadline looms for Iraq constitution

On Eve of Deadline, Key Disputes Remain On Iraqi Constitution

Iraqis claim pressure in drafting constitution

Iraq is an artifical country created by Britain with a disreguard for cultural and historical boundries. Its not supposed to exist. The Sunni, Kurds and Shia have competing visions for what they want in a country and I fear it won't be cohesive and the civil war will come out into the open.

The 'goverment' itself is considered a puppet which relies on US troops to prop it up which means if the US ever pulls out (which they probaly won't) the 'government' would collapse, not to mentoin that the Iraqi 'government' is mainly made up of middle class exiles from the west, I don't see how they can have empathy with the poorer Iraqis, many who have no electricity, water or jobs and are in the direct line of fire between the ever dwindling coalition and the insurgency (native and foreign). These should be sorted out first before a constution is even created.

Without a firm infrastructure Iraq will remain a place of extreme poverty and misery plus a traning ground for the 'terrorists' of the future.

The sheer corruption and incomptence of the reconstruction disgusts me. The Neocons/Bush Junta don't care about democracy, they don't even care about Iraqis, all they care about is power and profit and will trample on dead Iraqis to get it.

America is behaving very much like Britain and France did when they had the run of the Middle East. The 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement still reverberates around the Middle East today. In their spheres of influences Britain and France crafted countries by drawing lines in the sand, Britain created constutional monarchies while the French created republics.

America is trying to impose their Judeao-Christian vision on a Muslim country, which is utter folly and totally patronising. Democracy must come from the people and it must have root in their culture/religion, just like our secular democracy has a basis in Judeao-Christainity, so any democracy in the ME must come from Islam, it has to be organic and a popular movement.
