I'll land briefly on this final (for now) Italy-related post to thank you for the whirlwind tour.

Being of Italian descent on both sides of the family*, I really ought to go see for myself; alas! I am more of a homebody than Tom Bombadil, and in any case have a phobic horror of subjecting myself to TSA "Homeland Security" airport procedures.

But your lovely photo gallery may help wear me down; it's reminiscent of my niece Lara and her partner Denise's recent trip to Italy to attend a wedding in Ischia, an island in the Bay of Naples.

As in Lara's photo gallery, it's hard to say what's more attractive: the people, the sights, or the food!

Incidentally, although I closely scrutinized the many photos of Sienna, I couldn't find the burnt part at all.

* I suspect that the model who posed for the "Bacchus on a Turtle" sculpture-- the Bacchus figure, not the turtle-- is a direct ancestor of mine; I'd just as soon not elaborate upon why I reached this conclusion.
